Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor in Statistical Science
The School of Mathematics at the University of Bristol is seeking to make an appointment in statistical science at the level of Lecturer (analogous to Assistant Professor), Senior Lecturer, or Associate Professor, depending on the experience of the successful candidate. We are looking for world-class researcher who has demonstrated, or shown potential for, the highest achievements in any area of mainstream statistical science or cognate areas. The post-holder will join the School’s Institute of Statistical Science, and will be responsible for undertaking independent research and delivering excellent teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level.

The School is one of the UK’s leading centres for mathematics (ranked 4thÌýfor research intensity and joint 5thÌýfor GPA in the national REF2014 assessment). Comprising over 140 academic, research and professional services staff, the School recently moved to its new home, the historic Grade II-listed Fry Building in the heart of the University precinct.Ìý Following a £33 million renovation, the Fry Building provides state-of-the-art facilities for mathematics teaching and research.

The School is host toÌý Ìýa new EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Computational Statistics, which will train 11+ PhD students per year across a broad range of statistical science. The School launched a newÌý Ìýin 2018, and will introduce a new BSc in Data Science in 2021.

The School has strong links with theÌý , a national facility headquartered in Bristol that supports a broad range of mathematical research across the UK. HIMR currently funds over 20 postdoctoral fellows in the School of Mathematics and sponsors numerous seminar series, workshops, conferences and visitor programmes that extend and enrich our research environment.Ìý The University is a member of theÌý
