The School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia is offering a full PhD scholarship to both domestic and international applicants.
The PhD candidate is to conduct research in the areas of networkÂ
information theory and index coding. The candidate will by supervisedÂ

).
Applicants are required to have achieved honours class one or haveÂ
other equivalent research based qualifications. The applicant is alsoÂ
expected to have good knowledge in digital communications and codingÂ
theory, a strong foundation in mathematics and be able to satisfy theÂ
University's English proficiency policy.
The scholarship meets the full tuition fees and overseas studentÂ
health cover costs for a period of three years, as well as aÂ
relocation allowance (up to AUD 2,020). It also provides a tax-freeÂ
living allowance of AUD 25,849 per annum (2015 rate, indexedÂ
annually). All University of Newcastle students have access to aÂ
minimum of AUD 1,500 per annum for research-related expenses and areÂ
issued a new laptop on their commencement. The successful candidateÂ
may also apply for a six-month extension to the scholarship onÂ
research-related grounds.
