Technical/other issues 2010

Some of these things may end up as Trac tickets, others are questions, some may be questions for the BoG. Add in your issues as well and we can sort them.

Technical/software issues

  • When adding people to PeopleLists, it's ordered alpha by last name but you can't jump down the list by typing the first letter of their last name.  Instead, it character-matches to the first letter.  We should reformat the dropdown list to be (LastName, FirstName) for easier additions
  • Adding people via PeopleLists is really slow.
  • I get several "502 Bad Gateway" issues still.
  • As we delve deeper into the past of the IT Society, the "year" tab on the right (e.g. for the BoG) will start to get too long.  Can we make it cut off after 10 years or so and then put a link to "see older?"
  • For chapter chairs, if they do not update their committee members before the year is over they lose write access and it's a pain to have to add them back in etc etc.  Can we default make the current officers extend until "the present" and then when new officers are added they will cut off the terms of the previous ones?
  • Can Ex-Officio memberships be encoded automatically or do we have to add them manually for all the committees?

Policy questions

  • Does the IT Society have a right to use official Â鶹´«Ã½AV obituaries for deceased members?
  • What is the Society's policy about deceased members who have contributed service or have won awards?  Should they have profiles?

Suggestions

  • Can we automatically forward any news to the announcement mailing list? Or add a checkbox, if selected, the news is sent for the mailing list.
