2011 North American School of Information Theory
The 2011 North American School of Information Theory was held from Friday Ìý May 27th 8:00am to ÌýMonday May 30th 2011 5:00pm, at the University of Texas at Austin. The school offered graduate students and postdoctoral researchers the opportunity to learn from leading experts in information theory through short courses and talks as well as the chance to present their own work.
This year's lecturers were Rich Baraniuk, Bob Gray, Sanjoy Mitter, Emina Soljanin, and Emre Telatar. Rich Baraniuk will be the third Padovani Lecturer of the Â鶹´«Ã½AV Information Theory Society Ìýand will give his lecture at the School. The Padovani Lecture is sponsored by a generous gift of Roberto Padovani.
Graduate students and postdoctoral researchers in North America working on problems of information theory in a broad sense were encouraged to apply with the title and a short (less than 250 words) abstract of a poster they would like to present.
The application deadline for the school was extended to March18th 2011 and notifications were be sent by March 20th 2011. The online application form was available here.
