Broadening Participation in ITSOC: Introducing the ITSOC Volunteer Webpage
The IT Society (ITSOC) greatly depends on energetic and enthusiastic participation by society members as volunteers. As our society grows in size and geographical diversity, having a mechanism to track members鈥 interests and connect them with the various ITSOC committee chairs can bene铿乼 all activities of the society. To this end, we are developing a mechanism to connect interested members with committee chairs via a volunteer website. This event will showcase the ITSOC volunteer site and also have committee chairs present to describe the volunteer positions that become available on a revolving basis. Once the website is public, volunteers can submit their details. We do wish to note that submitting such an expression of interest does not guarantee that members will be asked to volunteer immediately; rather this is the start of a new mechanism to enable broader participation, which is expected to result in more diversity and inclusion.
