Call for Applications: 2023 Croucher Summer Course in Information Theory, Hong Kong (CSCIT 2023)
Dear PhD students and postdoctoral scholars,
We are very happy to announce theÌý2023 Croucher Summer Course in Information Theory (CSCIT 2023)Ìýwhich will be held in the week of 14-18 August 2023 at the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
CSCIT 2023 features five stellar speakers, who will be speaking on a diverse array of topics in information theory, computer science, and machine learning.
Arnab Bhattacharyya (National University of Singapore)
Topic: Learning and inference from confounded and biased data
Irit Dinur (Weizman Institute of Science, Israel)
Topic: Expanders in high dimensions
Lara Dolecek (University of California at Los Angeles, USA)
Topic: Channel coding for sampling channels with applications to blockchains
Farzan Farnia (The Chinese University of Hong Kong)
Topic: Information theory and adversarial machine learning
Amin Gohari (The Chinese University of Hong Kong)
Topic: The auxiliary receiver approach in network information theory
Given that all pandemic-related measures have been lifted in Hong Kong, CSCIT 2023 will be a completely in-person event, with room for 15 local and 30 non-local participants from Asia.
The registration fee is HKD 1500 HKD (approximately USD 190) and includes the following: participation in all summer school activities, a shared room in a CUHK student dormitory for 6 nights (Sunday, 13 August 2023, to Saturday, 19 August 2023), breakfast, lunches and refreshments (Monday to Friday), and 3 evening meals (on the nights with group activities).
Participants may apply for financial support in the form of a (partial) reimbursement of the registration and/or travel costs.

Notification of Acceptance: 1-15 June 2023.
