About the project and the role
Index coding is a source-coding technique for simultaneous transmission in multicast networks. It exploits cached contents in devices to increase the transmission rates from a source to multiple receivers. Besides its practical significance of tackling the Netflix effect, index coding provides a new perspective to related open problems of network coding and distributed storage. This project will construct optimal index codes and characterise the optimal index code length.

As the Postdoctoral Research Fellow you will add value to the project by using your expertise in the areas of in information theory and index coding, wireless communications, or a related discipline.


Skills and experience
To be successful in this role, you will have

  • A PhD in information theory, wireless communications, or a related discipline;
  • good interpersonal skills and ability to work both independently and in a team;
  • good background knowledge in information theory and network coding;
  • excellent problem-solving skills and mathematical analyses;
  • good written and verbal communication skills; and
  • evidence of ability to publish in high-ranked journals.

Academic Level B: $89,878 – 106,731  per annum, plus Superannuation Guarantee contributions will  be made to Unisuper with this appointment.
